Carol Burton is owner/operator with her husband of the St. James Boat Shop, Dan Burton Builders, Beaver Island Hideaway Campground, and has been the owner/Executive Director/Festival Coordinator of the Beaver Island Music Festival for the last 15 years. Due to the success and growth of BIMF they have continued to build and expand the festival with individuals who have the same mission and love of Beaver Island creating what is now the Beaver Island Music Festival Inc. non- profit organization.
Her background and training come mostly from the McDonald’s corporation (Harrell Management) where she worked for 10 years as General Manager moving to Beaver Island in 2002. She has served as Girl Scout leader, boards of the Beaver Island District Library, (NRETC) Natural Resources/Eco-Tourism Commission, Beaver Island Sports Booster President, and currently Peaine Township Board of Review, the School Improvement Plan (SIP), AMVETS, We Are the Forest & Chiwara Permaculture Research & Education L3C non-profit organizations-How Beavers Can Save The Word Program, and the Beaver Island Water Ways Trail committee.
She has 5 children 2 sons and 3 daughters, and enjoys life on Beaver Island. She is family and community oriented, is dedicated to continual learning, and spends all other free time developing her gardens.
