Steve has a lifelong love of music. He started collecting albums at the age of 13, and hasn’t stopped. Like many fellow baby boomers, Steve’s original tastes were heavily influenced by the Beatles and the British Invasion that soon followed. Growing up in the Detroit area, he also developed an early affinity for the Motown sound that filled the local airwaves. Over the years he has grown to appreciate a variety of genres, including jazz, R & B, rock & roll, Pop and just about any type of well performed act.
Also an aspiring musician, Steve set out to learn how to play a drum kit ten years ago, and has performed with local Beaver Island musicians, as well as performing regularly for the past four years in the Lansing, MI area. In fact, Steve has twice performed at the Beaver Island Music Festival, in 2008 and 2009 with the local Island band formerly known as the Shifting Souls.
Steve’s day job over the past 36 years has been the practice of a Certified Public Accountant, specializing in the field of taxation. He is currently a shareholder practicing in the Tax Department with Maner Costerisan, a CPA firm based in Lansing, MI. A graduate of Michigan State University, Steve and his wife Trish, a current member of the BIMF Board of Directors, split time between their homes in Mason, MI, and on Cable’s Bay, Beaver Island.
