Ben Steer is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist based in Grand Rapids, MI. His background in classical guitar was a pivot point for playing electric bass, which he has been studying for a decade. With over 18 years of experience playing music, Ben developed his songwriting skills from a young age and applied them to modern alternative rock by founding The Zannies in 2015. Although the band lasted only four years, they made a name for themselves in Michigan as a high-energy garage punk band with snarky lyrics and powerful rhythms. 90s alternative rock bands influence his singing and songwriting style, and his genre floats in the indie-rock realm with quirky song themes and angular stylistic changes. Today, Ben is a frequent collaborator in the Grand Rapids music scene and plays with Bedroom Ceilings, The Hacky Turtles, Elijah Russ Collective, Melophobix, and as a solo performer of his original works.
